The Nine Lives of Chloe King By Liz Braswell

Chloe King has turned 16 and is changing. Not the typical kind of changes, but weird, out of the ordinary changes. Like claws. Oh, and the reflexes and the night vision and the agility and stamina and homicide attempts. From the guy with the knifes and ninja stars and fighting skills and persistence. And then there are Alyec, Chloe's hot Russian boyfriend, and Brian, her other hot mysterious "boyfriend." Yeah, they're pretty important too. And then there are the actual homicide attempts. There's the one where Chloe and her two best friends are walking a long the Golden Gate Bridge and the Rogue shows up, as well as Brian and Alyec. Well, it's complicated.
I got a little under half way through the book this time, and it was definitely different than  when I started it. There was a lot more action, which I enjoyed, though at some points it seemed to be geared for people a bit older than me. It was descriptive and well written, and gave great insight into Chloe's mind. I'm definitely enjoying this book, and would recommend it to people, maybe even older than me, who like action.

SOL - And The Best Part Is It's Green

Have you ever stood in a Verizon store for at least an hour trying to decide which phone to get while your father and the salesman stare at you and try to say things to help? It's stressful. And it doesn't help that I suck at making choices. Especially long term choices. So, there's the Motorola Mini and the iPhone 5c. They're both really great phones, except for the storage and screen size, but I still can't decide which to get.
For about the hundredth time the salesperson says, "My wife has the Motorola Maxx, and loves it, so I learn towards Motorolas instead of Apple products." Not to be rude or anything, but in my head I'm going YEAH! You told me that already today. And the other day I was here. I've looked at the pros and cons of each phone, but then it hits me: I like the iPhone more. I like the layout and it just seems better all of a sudden. And the best part is it's green.

The Nine Lives of Chloe King By Liz Braswell

I'm going to try something a little different for my book blog this week. Here goes!

He was wearing the same clothes from the club two nights ago, but they were torn and pulled like he had tried to rip them off his body. His face had bubbled up like the rind of a diseased grapefruit. His cheeks and forehead were swollen and red, with white liquid, lymph or puss, oozing out of giant sores.
"Help-" He was trying to scream, but his throat was swollen so badly, he could barely breath. He groaned and twisted, trying to crawl out of his skin. He flopped onto his stomach and Chloe got a look at his back. Long, oozing cankers and welts, like claw marks. Exactly where she had scratched and kneaded him outside the club.
       Chloe backed up slowly.
       Must call.
Without thought, like she was walking through syrup, Chloe found the handset of a cordless phone in the living room, resting on top of one of those expensive giant HEPA filters from Sharper Image, like the one her mom had. She dialed 911.

I didn't get very far into my book with all my other work, but what I did read was a bit confusing and disturbing. The book starts with Chloe turning 16 and possibly killing someone on accident. From the title and back of the book it sounds like Chloe is a cat of some sorts, but doesn't seem to know it yet. By page 92 out of 771 Chloe has survived an impossibly deadly fall, almost killed 2 people, and almost hooked up with 3 different guys. The story seems interesting and I am looking forward to reading the rest of it.

SOL - Looking From The Outside

Music. It's a form of transportation. I can sit at my desk and watch people, tuning out the world's issues with the blast of a note. God this year's been rough. When I sit and watch, I feel like I'm doing just that. Watching. It could be a movie. Or a book. Or anything else, really. And I don't have to be a part of anything important, or be a crucial part of any ones day. Except, apparently, Adam's. He seems to need to "meet" with me about 4 times a day. These "meetings" are mostly a one way conversation where he asks the questions and I say things like yep and OK. It's a waste of time, like most of my life seems to be right now. I'm mad at school. I'm mad at home, because of school. I don't do my work, and I know that. But sitting here, blocking out the world, I can think. I have this story in my head. It's complicated and elaborate, and never seems to totally be there, but it comes to me when I try to think. Or let my mind wander. Or stare out a window. It's here now, and I just think about it. Think about it while I look from the outside

Dangerous Creatures By Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Ridley Duchannes is a bad girl, just about as dark as they come. She's a siren that's cheated, influenced, and hurt almost everyone in her life. Link Lincoln is now a quarter Incubus, and ready to get out of Gatlin. Together they head of to New York, Link in the hopes of making it as a musician, and Ridley for some other very secret reasons. Ridley has found Link a new band, though she is determined to keep her motivations a secret.
Dangerous Creatures takes place after the Beautiful Creatures series, and I enjoyed it about as much. The writing style was about the same, and the change of focus was nice. The end of the story is a total cliffhanger (it literally says "to be continued...), and I don't know if another book is coming out or not. I would recommend this book to people who are obsessed with the Beautiful Creatures series.
